Oti Region & Kyabobo
Oti Region · Mountains · Hiking · Lake Volta
Ghana's newest frontier for hikers: Kyabobo National Park, mountain villages and the northern reaches of Lake Volta.
About Oti Region & Kyabobo
The Oti Region runs along Ghana's eastern border with Togo, with Dambai on the banks of Lake Volta as its capital. In the north, Kyabobo National Park protects forested hills and savannah near Nkwanta, with trails up some of the highest peaks in Ghana.
Tourism here is young, with few hotels and long distances, which is exactly why it appeals to travellers who want somewhere few visitors reach.
Travel tips
Roads and accommodation are basic. Plan with a driver and allow plenty of time between towns. The dry season (November to March) is best for hiking.
