About Volta Region
The Volta Region is Ghana at its greenest. Wli Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in West Africa: the walk to the lower falls is easy, while the upper falls is a steeper hike. Nearby Mount Afadjato is one of Ghana's highest peaks, and at Tafi Atome you can see mona monkeys in a community-run forest sanctuary.
The region is also home to Lake Volta and Ewe culture, including the Hogbetsotso festival in Anloga.
Travel tips
The drive from Accra takes four to five hours, so the Volta Region is best as an overnight trip. Wear good shoes for the waterfall trails, which can be slippery in the rainy season.
