About Eastern Region & Aburi
The Akuapem hills rise just north of Accra and are noticeably cooler. The Aburi Botanical Gardens, founded in 1890, are a calm place for a walk among old trees and plants. Aburi also has a well-known wood-carving market.
Further into the region are the Boti Falls and the Umbrella Rock, as well as bead-making villages around Krobo.
Travel tips
Aburi is about an hour from central Accra outside rush hour, making it an easy half-day or day trip.
